WHO WE ARE

Missionary Kids (MKs) and Third Culture Kids (TCKs) are the children of Christian missionaries committed to full-time missions work. Many MKs complete their early education on the mission field and receive their passports before their driver's licenses. MKs are often uncomfortable with questions such as "Where are you from?" or "Where do you feel most at home?"

HISTORY OF MKAINOS

mKainos was established in 2007 with a vision to serve young adult missionary kids. Starting as a fellowship of college and young adult missionary kids across the United States, mKainos has matured into a ministry that actively seeks to go forth and be faithful to world missions. The vision of mKainos is to serve and minister to young adult MKs through support, networking, mobilization, and development. We envision a global network of MKs raising up fellow MKs for the Kingdom of God.

The main ministry of mKainos is the annual winter retreat. Gathering missionary kids from across the United States, the winter retreat is a special time of fellowship, networking, and development during the Christmas season. The unique background, story, and dream of each MK contributes to a special time of sharing and growth.

MK Testimonies

"This past December I found out my mom had been diagnosed with breast cancer and here I was on the other side of the world struggling and suppressing all my emotions of fear, worry, anger, and confusion. At mKainos I was surrounded by so much prayer, support and encouragement. I was finally able to break through with God and express my emotions. An MK unni, who had gone through a VERY similar experience just years before, reached out and helped me through this situation."

"God gave me so many gifts through mKainos Sabbath 2013 especially last night in the retreat when we all started praying about each other, every continent and family, God gave me the gift of tongues to speak and communicate with him personally. Also, every praise and small group session we had was so special, and I felt that the Holy Spirit was always with me which made me feel safe, happy and that all my sins were cleaned away. God also gave me new friends, so now I don't feel like the only MK wherever I go. Even in Korea, I can spend time and share my stories with other MKs since we have so many similarities and can understand each other."

- Elena(Mexico)

"mKainos impacted my formative college years by providing a safe and empathic community in which I could explore my MK identity and missional vision. The support of MK mentors and the fellowship of like-minded MK friends allowed me to freely process my cross-cultural upbringing to mature into a fuller vision of my identity. I treasure my memories from mKainos winter retreats marked by sleepless nights, laughter, delicious food, testimonies, and worship."
